Coffs Harbour City Council 2020
Coffs Harbour City Council currently supports three libraries, regional museum and regional art gallery.
There is a vibrant and growing cultural economy in the region, which is supported by a multi-tiered educational sector, enterprising creative practitioners, and numerous community cultural groups. The City’s cultural, tourism and economic development strategies all support the prospect of a more creatively alive and prosperous Coffs Coast.
The City’s libraries, gallery and museum represent vital cultural infrastructure, which is complemented by community-run and/or privately owned art galleries, theatre and performance spaces, and a diverse range of creative classes, programs and events. The new Libraries Museum Gallery (LMG) Strategy 2020-2023 represents the first time all cultural services will share the same strategic framework. The prospect of a new Cultural and Civic Space in Coffs Harbour, in which all three cultural services will share spaces, programs and staff, represents a major cultural catalyst for the region.
Project Sisu has worked with Coffs Harbour City Council’s staff and communities to craft a forward-looking library, gallery and museum strategy against the backdrop of the new Cultural and Civic Space due to be completed in 2023. The strategy was enthusiastically endorsed by Coffs Harbour City Council in February, 2020.
